what right?
what right do you have
you with your pious smirk
to pronounce me sinner
while covering your own dirt?
remove that beam in your own eye
afore you point your finger at mine
i am not ashamed to be lowly
i know in lowliness much grace i shall find
what right do you have
you with your mocking religiousity
pompous declarations of innocence
do you think that Truth cannot see?
the pain at your betrayal
pierces my heart and soul
when i think of all the years i spent
buying the deceit you sold
what right do you have
you with your filthy pathetic halo
spitting venom behind my back
do you think Truth does not know?
ah, but how wonderful it is
that Truth will not allow me
to drown in honeyed illusions
nor perish in my naviete
what right do you have?
you with your avarice and greed
we shall all reap what we sow
despite a glossy coat of acrid piety
they say truth hurts
but i’m not afraid to be me
no hurt can compare with the joy
to know Truth has set me free!

i cannot describe the sorrow and pain of being betrayed by those whom i have loved fiercely and protected loyally almost all my life… who can speak the depths of my anguish? their mocking words haunt me in my sleep, their condemnation reverberates in my soul, curses upon my humanity – curses which Truth, the only Judge of all things, does not pronounce… yet they are emboldened by their religious pomposity to declare…
they reap what they sow… Truth is immutable… we shall ALL reap what we sow… will knowing this erase the smear, the filthy stain of their deceit, upon the silken sheet of my love for them?
i do not know, for the hurt still rings like taunting echoes in my soul…
i can only cling to the knowledge that Truth has set me free… i need never be afraid or ashamed to be me… Truth KNOWS me for who i am, nothing is hidden from Truth… and Truth offers grace to the lowly…
so although i mourn the passing of what i thought was love and sweet memories, i rejoice at the release and hope that Truth has brought to me…

You say it well. I find echoes in my own experience.
Stand tall. Walk proudly. Live your own truth.
thank you again… and blessings to you!
I just can’t find words to say.
“and ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free”… john 8:23
Great poem… I’m with you on all of this. I loved this verse especially:
ah, but how wonderful it is
that Truth will not allow me
to drown in honeyed illusions
nor perish in my naviete
